Partnership Application Rejections

Introduction

After you apply to partner with a brand, either as a new creator or with a preexisting publisher account, you are added to their queue of creators pending approval. The brand will then review your application. Your partnership request may be declined if your online presence does not meet their criteria.

You will be notified of a rejection via email.

Rejection Types

The brand can decline an application temporarily or permanently:

  • A temporary decline means the brand thinks there is potential for a mutually beneficial relationship, but first needs you to address some aspects of your current account information. You can reapply after 15 days.
  • A permanent decline means the brand decides there is no potential for a mutually beneficial relationship.

Brand Criteria

The brand considers these criteria when reviewing your application; click the + for more information:

Web Presence

You have a live and accessible social media account, website, or blog.

This criterion is the most important because having a social media account, website, or blog is a prerequisite to participating in affiliate marketing. If the brand cannot find you on social media or access your website when they review your application, they will likely decline your partnership request.

Traffic Requirements

You have an inadequate level of incoming traffic and affiliate marketing transaction activity.

The brand may expect your website to attract a certain level of traffic before approving your application. The brand determines your traffic based on your marketing channel information and other tools. Inadequate traffic may lead to automatic or temporary rejections.

General Content

The general content, quality, and style of your posts. Your content should be original and high-quality, adding value to your visitors.

Some brands are very protective of their identity. Your category choice may trigger an automatic rejection if the brand does not want to be associated with that category or your target demographic. The style or look of your account or website can also lead to a rejection.

What You Can Do

To avoid rejection, we recommend you consider the following when applying:

  • Check that your online presence adheres to the criteria listed above.
  • Make sure the information you apply with is accurate, that your accounts are live and accessible, and, if relevant, that your website URL is free of typos.
  • Check that the categories you select best represent the content you post.

 Success Tip

If the brand only temporarily declined your application, reapply after 15 days have passed.
